Before Androids, Machinae were the most popular mechatronic worker, being much more simply designed then other creatures, they featured more basic programming parameters, allowing them to be extremely adaptable, and functioned more along the lines of multiple vehicles. While generally obsolete – to the point where their sentience is even questioned by some – they still are used nowadays, especially in worker or soldier applications. Built heartily, these machines are known to function for eons performing whatever task they wish.
Characteristics
Machinae typically appear as more older, more mechanically designed robots, being older variants, they have much more sharper edges, and are more blockier and chunkier then rounded like other units, sometimes having visible wiring or tubes coming from them.
Machinae are simple, and despite others beliefs, they are sentient and are very aware. They are capable of complex thoughts and feelings, but aren’t able to conceptualise and understand them, usually diverting little to no power to such sections of their body, thinking in one simple line most times, giving a very black-and-white mentality in their thoughts.
Native Environments
Machinae natively are machines, and are found almost everywhere, as common as any worker, or as any machine would typically operate.
History
Machinae were once treated as slaves to corporations, being forced to perform meaningless tasks that would destroy their own processes, while nowadays they are respected by most individuals, some swear they are unable to even conceptually perceive their own existence.
Society & Culture
Machinae are treated as lesser by some individuals, but are generally the working class of most civilisations. Most Machinae are unable to form civilisations by themselves, however, in the very rare instance in which they are ran, it is usually following another previous civilisations rules, or a very simplistic set of rules that are easily broken or abused.

Machinae Racial Traits
Racial Modifiers – When not choosing a subrace, you gain a +10% to two ability scores of your choice.
Size – Machinae range from Small, Medium and Large sizes.
Movement Speed – Machinae move at 1m/CE.
Languages Known – Machinae start knowing Binary, for every +5% Intellect Modifier they have, they may learn an additional language.
Major Traits
Mecha Core – Machinae have Core Energy (CE) instead of Time Points (TP). Core Energy does not recharge each round, and only recharges on rest, through electric damage and through the use of items. Machinae start with 50 CE, but this number increases by 25 CE per level. All TP costs are directly converted into CE, e.g. Anything that requires 3 TP needs 3 CE to perform. CE is removed from elements heating it up, with 100 Fire Damage taking away 1 CE, and 100 Electric damage restoring 1 CE
Durability – Machinae are resistant to all forms of damage, except for electric damage, and they are weak towards Fire and Explosive damage. Machinae cannot wear any normal armours.
Backup Generator – When a Machinae reaches death’s door, they instead return back to 50% HP, all CE is immediately restored, and Haste is applied for 1 round. If they were to reach 0 HP in this state, they immediately die.
Minor Traits
Simple Logic – Machinae are immune to all Illusions, Hexes, Psionics and any mental based abilities, they receive a -20% penalty when trying to answer complex conundrums.
Machine Parts – Machinae can be upgraded using Cybernetics, Vehicle and Mecha Modifications, weapons and items. They can have an unlimited amount of these modifications installed onto themselves, with the costs remaining the same. They still have two arms that they can use freely.
Priority – Machinae can use a Quick Thinking action at 0 TP cost to immediately assess the priorities of the situation, and what would be the best route to take based on their programming.
Machinae Subraces
Subraces are variants of the main race that change the abilities and aesthetic of the race, Subraces are not mandatory to choose, but you may only choose one subrace for your character.
Bipedal
Bipedal Machinae are simply machinae with the ability to walk on two legs. They are commonly used in various lifting and bending applications, these are the most common kinds of Machinae.
Bipedal Racial Modifiers – Bipedal Machinae gain a +10% Agility, +5% Muscle, and a -5% Intellect
Humanoid Shape – Bipedal Machinae have two arms and legs, and move at 2m/CE. Their body is relatively humanoid, and they can equip armour.
Modifications – Bipedal Machinae start with a Codec and one of any Cybernetic, Vehicle or Mecha modification of their choice.
Hunk of Steel – Bipedal Machinae can automatically succeed on any Muscle action an amount of times equal to their level per day.
Quadrupedal
Quadrupedal Machinae are used quite extensively to carry and transport goods, as well as for their innate speed compared to other Machinae. They move typically on four points, either legs, wheels, or some other similar form of locomotion.
Quadrupedal Racial Modifiers – Quadrupedal Machinae gain a +10% Fortitude, +5% Vitality, and a -5% Social
Bestial Shape – Quadrupedal Machinae have four legs and two arms, they move at 2m/CE and cannot be knocked prone.
Modifications – Quadrupedal Machinae start with a Codec and one of any Cybernetic, Vehicle or Mecha modification of their choice.
Battering Ram – Quadrupedal Machinae can automatically succeed on any Agility action an amount of times equal to their level per day.
Bastion
Bastion Machinae are used quite often as fortifications and in defensive situations at most times, acting more like a turret or emplacement, they do not have any limbs to move with, and are highly resilient.
Bastion Racial Modifiers – Bastion Machinae gain a +10% Nerve, +5% Senses, and a -5% Agility
Emplacement Shape – Bastion Machinae have no legs, they move at 1m/CE.
Modifications – Bastion Machinae start with a Codec and one of any Cybernetic, Vehicle or Mecha modification of their choice.
Always Grounded – Bastion Machinae can automatically succeed on any Fortitude action an amount of times equal to their level per day.
Drone
Drone Machinae are used often as scouts, cameras and guards for their flying abilities, they launch and whiz away at fast speeds, highly valued for their flight and resilience in such situations.
Drone Racial Modifiers – Drone Machinae gain a +10% Intellect, +5% Psyche, and a -5% Muscle
Flight Shape – Drone Machinae have a propulsion system, they gain a flight speed of 2m/CE.
Modifications – Drone Machinae start with a Codec and one of any Cybernetic, Vehicle or Mecha modification of their choice.
To The Skies – Drone Machinae can automatically succeed on any Vitality action an amount of times equal to their level per day.
