Traits in Metanoia Engine are used to grant your character a flaw, usually giving a benefit in return, it is recommended to only choose one trait of your choosing when making a character.
Traits allow you to create a character that is more well rounded, giving yourself a trait can help decide how you play your character in this campaign, some traits can be gained overtime through the campaign and can help you show character development overtime, making your character more human and relatable to those at the table, and even to yourself.
Below are the types of traits that are available.
Campaign
These traits affect the campaign and story, and can be used to give you a hook to the story that you’re currently dealing with, or are traits specifically designed for the start of a campaign, GM’s usually try to make their own campaign traits when they can.
Equipment
These traits affect what kinds of equipment you wield, if you wield any at all. Equipment traits help you show your characters personal beliefs in how they wield and how they use their combat style.
Bloodline
These traits are based on your bloodline, and are usually passed down through blood relatives, things such as curses from someone or some sort of family grudge. Bloodline traits help you show how your family raised your character.
Social
These traits are based on your social skills, and how you communicate with others. Social Traits allow you to show your characters interactions with those and others around them aswell as interacting with the world around them.
Magic
These traits are based on how well you can use magic, or how magic affects your character. Magic Traits allow you to express your characters skills and understanding of Magic and shows your characters mindset when it comes to magic.
Fate
These traits show how your character has changed over time. Fate Traits allow you to show a characters progression and how their mind is affected by their fears of the future or their own fate.
Drawbacks
These Traits allow you to have a more difficult experience without impacting others experiences. Drawback Traits allow you to show your own personal skill and your characters determination despite having the world pitted against them. Choosing a drawback in character creation grants you an extra starting wealth of C$2
