Factions play an important role in a campaign, usually dictating the universe and its current events. Characters are bound to stumble into faction-owned territory, or encounter some political aspects in their day-to-day life. Factions are responsible for all of these things. A Faction is a group of people following an ideology that they believe in and spreading it amongst the universe, some ideologies can be purely profit driven, or they can be more altruistic in their method, no faction is the same, but some may follow similar ideologies. Factions are not inherently good or evil, and should simply be seen as forces to be reckoned with.
Faction Ranks
Factions typically have multiple ranks, similar to reputation, in the way that different ranks usually signify a different level of standing with the faction, Factions can have multiple ranks, usually having 10 on average, Factions may provide more or less ranks, with different benefits associated with each rank. People typically use the title of Faction Ranks as a prefix or suffix for their name, to show their association with that Faction.
You may also receive negative ranks with a faction, this shows how hated you are by a faction, receiving too many negative ranks would send an assassin or group of people after you. To be hated by a faction is to perform actions that would negatively impact or hurt the faction, such as destroying what that faction owns, hurting or killing members of that faction, etc.
