These short, stout, bearded, and rocky miners, forgers and artisans are known for their strongly connected sense of community. They are crass, brash and are highly sought after for their work ethic, known for working for days on end for ambitious tasks, pursuing them with determination, all to celebrate once completed in a large party. Dwarfs are the backbone of all mining and refining industries.

Characteristics

Dwarf are typically short sized, usually containing a large, bulbous nose, and are known for their rocky skin, appearing as multiple minerals, however, usually just stone. Their hair is very moss and vine-like, and have colours ranging from blonde, brown, ginger and black. With circular, small eyes. Dwarves are mostly made of stone materials, however, they can feature or be entirely made from gems, minerals, metals, and even more organic materials such as wood and dirt.

Dwarves are very hearty and kind, but to-the-point. They perform tasks that they enjoy and have a natural affinity to. Dwarf are known for their generally brutish and crass language while they work and perform, and for their sense of humour and love for slapstick comedy.

Native Environments

Dwarf typically reside on asteroids, rogue planets, and large, interlinking underground cave systems in mountain ranges. While usually remaining more isolationist then other races, they do attempt to assist others for the basic needs that they encounter with any means that they possibly can. Their environments usually are hot, dense, filled with lava and dangerous creatures, while they heat up their forges to unbearable temperatures.

History

Dwarves have a long history of innovation, creation and discovery of deeper dungeons, mines and uncovering strange, doomsday-like contraptions while mining and salvaging resources. Society & Culture

Dwarves are highly communal, having a rank system based on each subrace, Gem Dwarves usually being the nobles and merchants of society, Stone Dwarves being the miners and excavators, Metal Dwarves being the forgers, builders and refiners, and Natural Dwarves are used mainly to hold up tunnels, make food for others and reinforce growth to prevent structural damage.

Dwarf Racial Traits

Racial Modifiers – When not choosing a subrace, you gain a +10% to two ability scores of your choice.
Size – Dwarf range from Tiny, Small and Medium sizes.
Movement Speed – Dwarf move at 1m/TP.
Languages Known – Dwarf start knowing Dwarfish, for every +5% Intellect Modifier they have, they may learn an additional language.

Major Traits

Stonehearted – Dwarves can consume inorganic materials as food, treating 1kg of rocks, gems and wood as 0.2 Saturation. They receive a +25% bonus against resisting all powers, all negative effects on a Dwarf are halved in effectiveness. They do not receive any damage from environmental effects e.g. Lava, Ice Water, etc.
Stout – Dwarves have their carry weight doubled, and can choose to succeed automatically on any Muscle action an amount of times per day equal to half of their level.
Incredible Resilience – Dwarves gain a +20% Damage Reduction, all damage dealt by powers are halved, and they are resistant to all forms of Fire and Frost damage.

Minor Traits

Brotherhood – When Dwarves work with allies and friends on an action, the DC of the action is reduced by 20%, they also gain a +25% bonus to all actions involving assisting allies
Fermented Tastes – Dwarves gain a +50% bonus to all actions made to resist alcohol and poisons.
Unhindered – Dwarves are immune to terrain differences and armour modifiers.

Dwarf Subraces

Subraces are variants of the main race that change the abilities and aesthetic of the race, Subraces are not mandatory to choose, but you may only choose one subrace for your character.

Stone

Stone Dwarves are primarily made of stone, shale, slate, limestone and many other kinds of rocks, the Stone Dwarves are used to mine, gather and dig resources, being the frontlines of most Dwarves, they are usually thrust into danger the most out of the other kinds.

Stone Racial Modifiers – Stone Dwarf gain a +10% Fortitude, +5% Muscle, and a -5% Agility
Stonecutter – Stone Dwarf automatically succeed on all actions involving stones, rocks and other similar stone-like objects, Stone tools that Stone Dwarfs use have the same durability as metal tools.
Deep Earth – Stone Dwarfs receive a +5% bonus to all actions for every 100m they are underground.
Splintering – When being struck, Stone Dwarf splinter off, all attackers in a 1m radius of the Stone Dwarf are also affected by the attack.

Metal

Metal Dwarves can be many different kinds of metals, such as Iron, Gold, Bismuth, Lithium, and many more. They are used mainly to forge and make equipment, tools and build various houses due to their affinity of building and creating. Metal Dwarves also make great fighters due to their natural ability to mould their own metal into weapons.

Metal Racial Modifiers – Metal Dwarf gain a +10% Vitality, +5% Intellect, and a -5% Nerve
Metalworks – Metal Dwarf gain the ability to turn their limbs into various weapons and items as if they had the Create ability, costing no MP to use the ability.
Blacksmithing – Metal Dwarf receive a +25% bonus to all crafting actions.
Durability – Metal Dwarf are resistant to all physical damage.

Gem

Gem Dwarves are made of various gems and minerals, such as diamonds, rubies, amethysts, emeralds, and many other kinds, these dwarves make up the merchants, traders, businessmen, nobles and politicians, being the ones that sell and trade goods, organise paperwork and manage tasks to give to other Dwarves in society. Gem Dwarves are known for their great prospecting, haggling and management skills.

Gem Racial Modifiers – Gem Dwarf gain a +10% Senses, +5% Social, and a -5% Fortitude
Valuable – Gem Dwarf gain a +20% bonus to all actions made to haggle prices
Shimmer – Gem Dwarf receive a shimmering effect when in any form of light. When this effect activates, all targets in a 20m radius must take a Resistance action (DC 50 + 10 per level), on fail, they are immediately blinded for 1 minute
Gemsight – Gem Dwarf can see all treasure and valuable items up to 50m away, including through walls. They can adjust this vision to only see items of certain values as determined by them.

Earthen

Earthen Dwarves are reinforcers, repairers, and are usually the doctors and medics of Dwarven society. They assess the structural integrity and reinforce where needed to keep tunnels and caves in check, while healing and assisting others that face any injuries in the mines. Earthen Dwarves are usually made from dirt, wood, moss and many more plant-like materials.

Earthen Racial Modifiers – Earthen Dwarf gain a +10% Psyche, +5% Nerve, and a -5% Muscle
Naturist – Earthen Dwarf gain a +40% bonus to all abilities involving nature and interacting with it
Life Filled – Earthen Dwarf may restore the HP of a target they are touching to full HP once per rest.
Photosynthesis – Earthen Dwarf regenerate 50 HP per round in bright light, and 100 HP in Ultrabright light.
