In the universe (and possibly, multiverse) , you’re bound to come across various shapes and sizes in terms of creatures, items and objects. Abilities also come with various Area of Effects that change size depending on the size of the creature.
Size plays a large impact on how things function in the Metanoia Engine universe, as some characters can use oversized weapons, and undersized characters may need to change the kinds of weapons they’re using.
Area of Effect
Area’s of effect usually are described in the abilities or weapons that are being used. The range of the effect is usually shown next to the range of the ability (e.g. 5m, 3m circle).
Square
Square effects typically are square shaped on the field, and differ from circles heavily. While circles contain a more circular space, square effects have very visible corners, and are typically the largest in terms of area.
Circle
Circle effects are shaped in a curved manner, similar to that of a cone shape, but being in a 360 degree angle, these are some of the most common areas of effect for abilities.
Line
Line effects function as they are stated, they affect everything in a line, either horizontal or vertical, depending on the ability or weapon.
Cone
Cone effects typically affect a 45 degree radius. Shotguns and a fair amount of abilities use cone area of effect abilities.
Threatened Area
Threatened area is typically shown as the melee range of a character, Any attackers who wander and enter this area fall into Partial Exposure.
