Reputation and Contacts

Within the universe, you’re bound to communicate with those around you to get what you want and gain reputation through performing certain actions and quests. You may get access to people that you may contact that have a large amount of power and control, performing enough actions to gain favours of some kind.
Building Reputation
Building reputation is a relatively simple task, typically by assisting others, being kind and overall following the customs of a society will allow you to build reputation with that group. Building Reputation can give you benefits, and lead into favours being made. The table below shows an example of the various tasks you can perform and the amount of reputation points it would give you for performing those tasks
You can build reputation with many groups, anything that the GM and the Player agrees as a group qualifies as a group that you can build reputation with. Some groups may have reputation stacking between them.
To calculate the amount required to increase your reputation, you must successfully assist a willing person of that group in a task. the amount of reputation points required to increase your rank with a group is your current rank x 10 + 10.
Favours
Favours are highly important for gaining reputation and are your main points for using your benefits for reputation. You may have a maximum of favours equal to the rank that you currently are, every +15% in Social increases the amount of points you can have at one time.
When using a Favour, you can choose between the options:
- Automatically succeed any Social Action against a character of the group that you have favour with.
- Immediately reduce the cost of an item or service by C$5, if less then this price, it is considered free.
- Request aid from the group, an amount of allies (if available) equal to your rank will attempt to assist you in any instance that you require as long as it would not result directly in their death.
You may also use favours for things outside of this, however, this is up to GM’s discretion.
When using a favour, the group gains 1 point of Favour against you. The GM can choose to use the favour on multiple things, such as requesting an item, a mission, or anything from that group to assist them. These qualify for x4 of the amount of reputation that you would typically gain by doing these normally. Accepting a Favour grants 1 reputation point, while declining a Favour removes 1 reputation point.

Contacts
Contacts are not necessarily members of any specific group, or they can be very specific members of groups with their own reputation ranks and levels. Treat contacts the same as you would treat it for other reputations for groups. Contacts can be very helpful and having multiple contacts will be able to get you things such as information and access to more contacts, being able to pull the strings behind various locations.
Contacts are typically leaders or independent people from groups, but their mechanics are treated similarly as if you were gaining reputation for a whole group.
