The Planes of Reality is likely something you’ll encounter while performing incredibly long distance travel, encountering powerful beings or simply making conversation with others obsessed with the topic. The universe is incredibly vast, and filled with adventure in these planes, while some may be chaotic, others are completely quiet. Each plane has it’s own unique traits that are identifiable.

To make up our reality, multiple different planes that perform different tasks intersect to create our existence, the easiest example of this would be how the Positive and Negative planes create the Ethereal plane, the one where spiritual forms reside, while the physical form exists in the Material plane. Despite intersecting with these planes, in most cases, one cannot interact with another on a different plane.

For an idea of how time, space and their differences, these planes simply show the rates of progression in comparison to Materia.

The list of planes and how they interact with one another are listed below.

Materia

What you can see!
Other Names: The Fantasy Plane
Intersects with: Quasi-Materia, Metasphere, Ethereal, Positive, Negative, Demi-Planes
Time: Normal Space: Immeasurable Properties: Standard
Natural Home: Most humanoid creatures, animals, beasts

Materia is the physical plane of existence that is made up by multiple, simple layers. This is where campaigns tend to start out in. It is a relatively mundane and simple existence, and is considered the standard when comparing other planes existences.

Metasphere

Technology, The Digital, what links others together through machines.
Other Names: Digi-space Intersects with: Materia
Time: Normal Space: Immeasurable Properties: Technology-Based
Natural Home: Supercomputers, Programs, any technology that uplinks to it.

The Metasphere is what links together all machines to create a web of information that many people can access at their fingertips, usually consisting of multiple, local spaces that can be travelled to through multiple tunnels and connecting links, the Metasphere is used often for long distance communication, file sending, entertainment, and information access, but is not limited to such uses. The Metasphere is viewed as the machine’s version of the Ethereal plane, serving a similar function, as machines do not naturally exist on the ethereal plane.

Ethereal

The soul resides here in this dark realm.
Other Names: The Soul Plane Intersects with: Materia, Positive, Negative
Time: Normal Space: Immeasurable Properties: Organic-Based
Natural Home: Ghosts, Souls, The supernatural

A plane of vast darkness, mirroring the lighting and shades of the material plane, the Ethereal plane is entirely in a greyscale. Colour does not exist here. This plane mirrors the exact locations and appearances of everything in Materia, illuminating those that are alive with their own soul. Two planes intersect here to create the Ethereal plane. The souls of most organics exist on the Ethereal plane, however, unless directly on the Ethereal plane, cannot be interacted with.

Positive

Everything intrinsically good comes from the positive plane.
Other Names: Heaven, Nirvana, Elysium Intersects with: Ethereal
Time: Normal Space: Immeasurable Properties: Good-Based
Natural Home: Angels, Good entities and creatures

The positive plane exists differently inside of every creatures soul, as does the negative plane, however, these planes are all interlinked in the same fashion. Creatures of pure good such as angels and the souls of the redeemed live here once they die. Nothing inherently evil or negative can happen in the positive plane. When one goes to die, based on their own personal beliefs or deeds, they go to either the positive or negative planes. If they truly believed what they did was good, they go to the Positive plane.

Negative

Everything intrinsically evil comes from the negative plane.
Other Names: Hell, Naraka, Tartarus Intersects with: Ethereal
Time: Normal Space: Immeasurable Properties: Evil-Based
Natural Home: Demons, Evil entities and creatures

The negative plane exists differently inside of every creatures soul, as does the positive plane, however, these planes are all interlinked in the same fashion. Creatures of pure evil such as demons, and the souls of the damned live here once they die. Constant agonising pain on the physical and mental levels exist here to punish those who feel guilt. When one goes to die, based on their own personal beliefs or deeds, they go to either the positive or negative planes. If they truly believed what they did was evil, they go to the Negative plane.

Demiplanes

Infinite pockets that exist inside of Materia with their own rules and laws
Other Names: Pocket Dimension
Intersects with: Materia, Ethereal, Quasi-Materia, Immateria, Ultramateria
Time: Varies Space: Varies Properties: - Natural Home: Nothing

These infinite pockets that exist in Materia contain varying and chaotic properties, usually with simplistic designs and complex laws of physics inside of them. These pockets, when naturally formed, may not appear too dissimilar to Materia in terms of function and appearance. When created through magical or technological means, these planes match whatever characteristics that the creator has chosen when making the plane.

Quasi-Materia

The border between what makes sense and complete incomprehension
Other Names: The Borderlands
Intersects with: Materia, Immateria, Backrooms, Quidvero, Subspace
Time: Varies Space: Half of Materia Properties: -
Natural Home: -

The small border between complete incomprehension and Materia, Quasi-Materia resides, while it hasn’t always existed, through the clashing of both the order of the Materia and the chaos of Immateria creates this highly volatile borderlands, where things start not making any sense. The Quasi-Materia is a place that is lethal, entering this area, or making the wrong steps, could result in an immediate death. It shares both physical traits of the Materia and Immateria, creating strange, almost rainbow-like clashes between the barriers that have been destroyed.

Backrooms

A place filled with infinite halls and layers that eats at the minds of the unfortunate that live here.
Other Names: Infinite Hell Intersects with: Quasi-Materia
Time: x0.25 Space: 25% of Quasi-Materia Properties: -
Natural Home: -

The Backrooms is a labyrinth of infinite halls, corridors, and pathways, containing multiple floors of seemingly infinite origin, usually mimicking multiple office spaces, factories, libraries and liminal spaces, always lacking any inklings of life, or the ability to sustain it beyond the oxygen that exists. Each floor is connected by an elevator, leading up or down, but never out. Some theorise the creatures of the backrooms to be real, while others speculate on the ideas of them being hallucinogenic.

Quidvero

Near incomprehension, almost eldritch in nature
Other Names: Pit of Shit Intersects with: Quasi-Materia
Time: x2 Space: 50% of Quasi-Materia Properties: -
Natural Home: -

The idea of primal fear is what creates Quidvero, a complete chasm that plays on the inner psyche and causes even the most stoic of those to erupt into anger. The ground and walls move and match your worst fears when wandering through Quidvero. Everything that exists here is to play against the person’s primal fears and emotions, and confronts them with their own psyche that is beyond their own understanding.

Subspace

A condensed location of spacetime used to travel far distances throughout time
Other Names: Quantum Dimension Intersects with: Quasi-Materia, Materia, Immateria
Time: Varies Space: 10% of Quasi-Materia Properties: -
Natural Home: -

A small, white land with a star-like, vibrant sky, subspace is a small, desert-like highway which travels between the cracks of everything, acting as a highway to travel between worlds and dimensions with ease. Time varies based on the traveller here, allowing those to travel forwards and backwards in time. Each Jump Drive uses a bit of subspace to travel high speeds throughout the universe.

Immateria

Complete incomprehension, the beginning of the Fourth Dimension
Other Names: The Fourth Dimension
Intersects with: Quasi-Materia, Arena, Inanislocus, Latituda, Innotus, Ultramateria
Time: x0.5 Space: Double the size of any conceivable thought made to measure it.
Properties: - Natural Home: -

Immateria, also known as the Fourth Dimension, is a dimension where creatures are able to travel through the axis of time to arrive at any point along that period, as everything has already happened there. Time is merely just another axis of movement for the creatures that exist there, as their worlds are in complete serenity, being able to experience every moment of joy at all times, and every moment of pain so vividly. It is incomprehensible to the third-dimensioners mind.

Arena

Known, probably the most comprehendable of the layers, the most intelligible.

Time: x0.5 Space: 10% of Immateria Properties: -
Natural Home: -

Arena is a simple landmass of five layers, each with their own visual properties and distinctions, mimicking that of Materia, with more of a darker light, a feeling of tranquility, and an absence of life. This is the only dimension inside of Immateria that mimicks Materia. Not much is known about any other dimension beyond this one.

Inanislocus

Incomprehensible by third dimensional brains, completely clear to those native
Other Names: The Blindside Intersects with: Immateria, Arena, Latituda, Innotus
Time: x0.5 Space: 20% of Immateria Properties: -
Natural Home: -

This complete jarbled mess completely corrupts the brains of those in the third dimension, while those from the fourth dimension praise it’s beauty. Tales of strange, eldritch equipment exist. Researchers theorise this to be a fortress of somekind, however, notes and archives from the Fourth Dimension state this is nothing as advanced, and more of a nursery.

Latituda

Comprehensible by the third dimension, incomprehensible by the fourth
Other Names: The Facade Intersects with: Immateria, Arena, Inanislocus, Innotus
Time: x0.5 Space: 20% of Immateria Properties: -
Natural Home: -

This transformative experience is a near deadzone for fourth-dimensional creatures, they seldom avoid this place like the plague, each attempt to enter this location by such creatures is granted by fear and complete panic. Possibly due to the fact that the creatures lose access to their ability to navigate time in this dimension.

Innotus

The complete and utter unknown
Other Names: The Unknown Intersects with: Immateria, Arena, Inanislocus, Latituda
Time: x0.5 Space: 30% of Immateria Properties: -
Natural Home: -

Not much is known about Innotus, it is merely a void containing multiple screams and other jarbled words, combinations of layers, ideas, thoughts, and conversation of the Immateria. It is theorised to be the border between here and something else entirely.

Iteratio

A repeating layer
Other Names: Introspection Layer Intersects with: Ultramateria
Time: x0 Space: Infinite Properties: -
Natural Home: -

A repeating dimension, functioning more like a mirror of whatever remains inside of it, it reflects the thoughts as well as the physical manifestation of all things, creating a tessellating pattern if possible of said thing. Researchers are unsure if there is anything important or noteworthy beyond this in this plane.
