Chlorophyte’s are plant-like creatures that tend to the environments around them, acting as quiet, apex predators of their surroundings. Being adapted to the harsh conditions of the wilderness, these creatures appear only as trees, plants, or other forms of plant-like wildlife, waiting for creatures to come close before skewering or ensnaring them with their roots.

Characteristics

Chlorophytes are diverse in their appearance, having multiple flowers, leaves, branches, roots and other nature appearances, they can copy appearances of mushrooms, mold and moss, while the aquatic Chlorophyte’s appear as lilly-pads, vines and other water-based plants, some parts of their body can mimic rocks, dirt and stones, however, this is typically rare amongst other Chlorophytes, and is usually dependent on their environments.

Chlorophytes are relatively quiet and reserved in terms of other creatures, typically remaining still, either as a form of showing no weakness or revealing themselves in the presence of predators, or remaining hidden in the eyes of prey. They tend to enjoy the more simpler things in life, such as resting near lakes, ponds, or being in deep, pondering contemplation.

Native Environments

Chlorophytes usually exist in deep wilderness, places of high vegetation and foliage. Mainly to blend and hunt with a large, vast advantage, they are frequently the most common in more warmer areas, and places where sunlight is frequent, to make use of their natural photosynthesis.

History

Little is known of Chlorophyte history, most of their traditions are done through dance, body language or other means. Relatively, they are known for being nomadic, not ones to fight others in large scale conflicts, but have been known to frequently ambush unsuspecting travellers.

Society & Culture

Chlorophyte’s live in small communities, giving to the land that they travel around, living within sunlight and remaining quiet towards the night. They tend to assist one another and entertain eachother, their ways of communication being largely physical and requiring touching one another, usually as a show of affection, care or platonic communication.

Chlorophyte Racial Modifiers

Table: Chlorophyte HP, MP and SP
Racial Modifiers At Level 1 Every Level After
Health Points (HP) 100 + Vitality % 1d8 x 5 + Vitality %
Magic Points (MP) 125 + Psyche % 1d10 x 5 + Psyche %

Chlorophyte Racial Traits

Racial Modifiers – When not choosing a subrace, you gain a +10% to two ability scores of your choice.
Size – Chlorophytes range from Small, Medium and Large sizes.
Movement Speed – Chlorophytes move at 1m/TP
Languages Known – Chlorophytes start knowing Sign Language, for every +5% Intellect Modifier they have, they may learn an additional language.

Major Traits

Photosynthesis – Chlorophytes regenerate 5 x level HP per minute while in bright light. All excess healing beyond their maximum HP is stored as AP with a maximum equal to the maximum HP of the Chlorophyte, they may turn an amount of AP of their choice into a fruit for 5 TP that can be consumed by those who eat it, granting the amount of AP used to the creature. This fruit is considered a full meal, and spoils within 24 hours. The AP that the Chlorophyte has is removed upon long rest.
All-Natural – Chlorophytes are all-natural, they blend into all environments around them, when hiding in the wilderness and away from cities, they are indistinguishable from an ordinary plant, acting as such. While hiding, animals and other creatures that would be hostile to humanoids are not hostile to the Chlorophyte.
Roots – Chlorophyte gain multiple roots that they can use to attack, grab and ensnare those from up to 5m away. These roots deal 200 (d4%) Bludgeoning damage on hit and cost 0.5 TP to use. Chlorophytes cannot be knocked prone when not moving, and are immune to all knockback effects.

Minor Traits

Plantlike – Chlorophytes are plants, and are vulnerable to fire damage. They do not need to eat food but do need to drink
Best Conditions – Chlorophytes choose one biome, while in that biome, their Photosynthesis ability is doubled in effectiveness, regenerates their MP and SP by the same rate, and they do not need to sleep.
Seeding – Chlorophytes upon death immediately seed their current area, if that area is tended to and taken care of regularly daily for one week, 1d4 days later, another Chlorophyte will be born, with the same abilities and genetics as the deceased Chlorophyte, lacking the memories of the former one.

Chlorophyte Subraces

Subraces are variants of the main race that change the abilities and aesthetic of the race, Subraces are not mandatory to choose, but you may only choose one subrace for your character.

Poriferan

Poriferan Chlorophytes are sponge-like creatures that exist largely in aquatic areas, with a unique ability to absorb liquids to eat and gain food. Despite lacking quite vital functions, their basic systems make them incredibly effective against many forms of conflict, they remain some of the oldest forms of Chlorophytes.

Poriferan Racial Modifiers – Poriferan’s receive a +10% Fortitude, +5% Vitality, and a -5% Nerve
Absorption – Poriferan’s can absorb an amount of liquid inside of themselves equal by 1m3 per level, while they have this liquid inside of them, they gain the properties of that liquid, and are immune to the effects of that liquid.
Respiration – Poriferan’s can breathe in any liquid, and gain a 2m/TP swim speed.
Canal System – Poriferan’s lack any circulatory, digestive or nervous systems, they do not have the ability to feel pain and do not need to eat or drink, they regenerate their own limbs slowly within 1 week, and are immune to all bleed and poison effects.

Plantyte

Plantyte Chlorophytes are the most common form of Chlorophyte, they contain leaves, flowers, and can even appear as mostly bushes, trees or flower bundles. They enjoy travelling large distances and communicating with others, they are very alert and are known to be tricksters amongst most other Chlorophytes.

Plantyte Racial Modifiers – Plantyte’s receive a +10% Senses, +5% Psyche, and a -5% Fortitude
Leaves – Plantyte’s gain the ability to have leaves, they receive half of the effects of temperature, and are immune to Moderate Heat or Moderate Cold conditions.
Flowers – Plantyte’s can choose to create a flower for 50 AP instead of a fruit, when a flower is created, the Plantyte receives a +20% bonus to their next action, the flower falls once this ability is used.
One with Nature – Plantyte’s receive a +40% bonus to all actions made to speak to animals and nature, these creatures are friendly towards Plantyte’s.

Coralyte

Coralyte Chlorophytes are hardened pieces of coral humanoids that remain in deep oceans and reefs, containing beautiful and intricate calcified structures and vibrant colours, they typically surround themselves with other animals and living in symbiosis with them, using the Coralyte Chlorophyte as a home while they blend in with their surroundings.

Coralyte Racial Modifiers – Coralyte’s receive a +10% Vitality, +5% Muscle, and a -5% Agility
Calcified – Coralyte’s have a strong, calcified structure, they gain 50 Passive DT, and receive +5% Damage Reduction
Aquatic – Coralyte’s can breathe underwater, and gain a 2m/TP swim speed.
Crystalline – Coralyte’s have vibrant and unique colours, they receive a +20% bonus to all performance actions.

Mycelyte

Mycelyte Chlorophytes are moss, mushrooms and fungus creatures, existing mainly as scavengers, they are omnivorous as they consume and allow decomposition of various parts of their environment, they do not enjoy sunlight compared to other chlorophytes, growing in dark and damp locations.

Mycelyte Racial Modifiers – Mycelyte’s receive a +10% Agility, +5% Nerve, and a -5% Muscle
Fungi – Mycelyte’s Photosynthesis ability instead only functions while in darkness. They can choose to create mushrooms with their AP, which release spores in a 5m radius that damage equal to the amount of AP used to create the mushroom for 1 round.
Sporing – Mycelyte’s are immune to all spore-like effects, and gain Spores as a power. When using Spores, their movement speed is doubled.
Decomposition – Mycelyte’s may spend 1 minute to decompose a corpse or up to 1m3 per level of material, after using this ability, they regenerate 100 AP.
